Semiconductor Optical Amplifier Switch with butterfly package MSOA-1550-Switch
Description
The semiconductor optical amplifier switch, MSOA-1550-Switch, addresses new areas in the optical switch market. The technology is based on well‐known semiconductor laser technology and packaging techniques, and offers a low‐cost alternative to conventional fiber switch solutions. SOA can operate at any wavelength from 1520-1650nm window and it is very suitable for optical blocking shutter or modulation with 65dB extinction ratio.
The devices are packaged in a butterfly package providing high coupling efficiency, low polarization sensitivity, and high saturation output power. MSOA-1550-Switch can be used to extend telecommunication or ns speed optical switch links by providing 18 ‐25 dB gain, < 2.0 dB polarization sensitivity, and 10dBm saturation power. Switch of both continuous wave (CW) signals and modulated signals is possible.
