FT-OSFP-XD-1.6T-2FR4 1.6T OSFP-XD 2xFR4 PAM4 2x CWDM4 2km Dual Duplex LC SMF Optical Transceiver Module

Although the OSFP1600 supports future switch silicon with 200 Gb/s electrical lanes, there is significant interest in 1.6 Tb/s optical transceivers within the 100 Gb/s electrical lane ecosystem. The OSFP-XD ('eXtra Dense') form factor was developed to address this demand. By increasing the number of electrical lanes from 8 to 16, the OSFP-XD provides 1.6T density with 16 lanes at 100 Gb/s and is poised to offer 3.2 Tb/s density with 16 lanes at 200 Gb/s in the future.
The OSFP-XD is primarily designed with several key objectives: high-power compatibility, copper cable support, and port density optimization. 1.6T OSFP-XD transceivers support up to 40W for future 1600-ZR and 3200G optical transceivers, ensuring stable high-performance data transmission. It is compatible with 100GBASE-CR1 standard passive copper cable solutions (DAC), meeting various connectivity needs. Additionally, 1.6T OSFP-XD transceivers enable 32-ports in a 1RU chassis and 64 ports in a 2U chassis, greatly enhancing space utilization and system expansion capabilities.

The FT-OSFP-XD-1.6T-2FR4 is a high-density 1.6T optical transceiver module designed for next-generation AI fabrics, cloud data centers, and high-performance computing interconnects. Housed in the OSFP-XD ('eXtra Dense') form factor, this module doubles the electrical lane count from 8 to 16, delivering 1.6Tbps aggregate bandwidth using 16 lanes at 100G PAM4 signaling—while remaining fully compatible with existing 100G electrical lane switch infrastructures.

Operating at 1311nm CWDM4 wavelength grid, the module supports dual-channel FR4 transmission over standard single-mode fiber (SMF) with a reach of up to 2km via dual duplex LC connectors. It integrates 2×FR4 optical engines in a compact package, enabling flexible 1×1.6T or 2×800G breakout configurations to accommodate diverse network deployment scenarios.

Built with low-power DSP technology and an optimized IHS/Finned Top thermal design, the FT-OSFP-XD-1.6T-2FR4 ensures robust performance even in high-density, high-heat rack environments. It provides a seamless, cost-effective upgrade path for hyperscalers and enterprises transitioning from 800G to 1.6T networks.
