The NVIDIA/Mellanox InfiniBand Compatible OSFP IHS/Closed Finned Top Optical Transceiver is an 800Gb/s InfiniBand OSFP transceiver featuring a single-port 1×800Gb/s SR8 multimode interface. It uses a single MTP®/MPO-16 APC connector with 8 parallel optical channels. The SR8 design employs 100G PAM4 modulation and supports transmission distances of up to 100 meters over multimode fiber using 8 fiber pairs (16 fibers). It is qualified for use in end-to-end NVIDIA InfiniBand NDR systems.
Designed for NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand networks, this OSFP transceiver delivers 800G high-speed connectivity for leaf-spine architectures and interconnects with NVIDIA ConnectX and BlueField-3 platforms. Its scalable, low-latency optical connectivity makes it well suited for large-scale GPU clusters, AI fabrics, and H100/H200-based AI deployments.
Note: "Finned-top" transceivers are now called "Integrated HeatSink" (IHS) as the cooling fins are integrated into the OSFP connector metal top. Commonly used in air-cooled switches. "Flat-top" transceivers are now called "Riding Heat Sink" (RHS) as the cooling fins ride on top of the network card or systems internal cages. This is used for both air-cooled and liquid-cooled applications for DGX, ConnectX-7, and BlueField-3 DPUS.
