Pulse E81M0-002-02-LT 20 Position SFP Receptacle Connector Solder Surface Mount Right Angle Compatible  FT-291-11B000001

The FT-291-11B000001 is an industrial-standard 20-Position SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) Receptacle Connector, engineered as a functional cross-reference and pin-to-pin compatible replacement for the Pulse E81M0-002-02-LT. Designed to be mounted inside a corresponding SFP metal cage assembly, this right-angle electrical interface provides the critical physical layer (PHY) bridge between the host motherboard and pluggable fiber optic or copper transceivers. Conforming to strict SFF Committee MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) standards, it is the foundational electrical building block for enterprise routing, telecom switching, and high-speed network interface cards (NICs).

Electrically, the FT-291-11B000001 is engineered for uncompromising high-bandwidth signal integrity. It utilizes a Surface Mount Technology (SMT) footprint. Unlike through-hole (THT) connectors that introduce parasitic capacitance and signal-degrading via stubs, the SMT architecture allows PCB layout engineers to route high-speed differential pairs (TX/RX) cleanly on the top layer or through strictly controlled microvias. This layout flexibility dramatically minimizes impedance mismatches and return loss at Gigabit and multi-Gigabit speeds. To ensure long-term electrical reliability across repeated transceiver insertion and extraction cycles, the contacts feature a 15µin (0.38µm) Gold finish. This commercial-grade plating provides robust resistance against fretting corrosion, oxidation, and micro-vibration contact wear in demanding data center environments.

Mechanically, surface-mount connectors are inherently susceptible to alignment shifting during automated manufacturing. To mitigate this Design for Manufacturing (DFM) risk, the housing is equipped with integrated Board Guides (alignment pegs). These alignment features secure the 5.20mm low-profile assembly into precisely drilled PCB holes prior to soldering, ensuring absolute pin-to-pad coplanarity during the thermal reflow process and preventing lateral drift.

Operating seamlessly in conjunction with standard EMI cages, the FT-291-11B000001 is the definitive surface-mount solution for high-density networking hardware, including Ethernet edge switches, Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBAs), and compact media converters.
